In some cases, the remedy of Cancellation of Removal may be available, depending on factors such as length of time in the U.S., what, if any, criminal record exists and whether removal (formerly called Deportation) would result in exceptional and extremely unusual hardship to a spouse, parent, or child who is a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Other remedies may also be available, such as adjustment of status based on a family member, or asylum.
